Two Bakeries Fined in Karnaphuli for Unhygienic Food Production

Two bakeries in Chattogram’s Karnaphuli upazila have been fined for producing food in unhygienic conditions and storing expired products. The mobile court operation was conducted on Thursday afternoon (October 23) in the Miarhat and Fazilkharkhat areas of Bara Uthan Union under the leadership of Executive Magistrate and Assistant Commissioner (Land) Al Amin Hossain. A team from Karnaphuli Police assisted during the drive.

During the operation, Kashem Bakery (Proprietor: Md. Kamal) of Miarhat was fined Tk 4,000 for operating without updated licenses and producing food items in an unhygienic environment. Favorite Bakery (Proprietor: Md. Adnan) of Fazilkharkhat was fined Tk 5,000 for storing expired products and failing to display the mandatory price list.

A total fine of Tk 9,000 was collected under various sections of the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009.

Executive Magistrate Al Amin Hossain said, “Regular drives are being conducted to protect public health. No one involved in unhygienic food production will be spared.”
