Legendary actor Dharmendra has passed away

Bollywood superstar Dharmendra Deol, who was a hugely popular Hindi film actor in films like Sholay, Goyal and Aye Milan Ki Bella, has passed away just two weeks before his 90th birthday.

However, the actor’s family has not yet officially confirmed the news of his death.

Producer-director Karan Johar wrote about Dharmendra’s death, “The end of an era… He was a legend in Indian cinema. He was also the best as a person. He was a beloved figure in our industry. He had immense love for everyone.”

Actor Dharmendra, known as ‘He-Man’, was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in late October with some lung problems. While undergoing treatment there, fake news about Dharmendra’s death spread in the mainstream media in India.

At that time, his daughter, actress Esha Deol, said, “The media is spreading false news. My father’s condition is stable and he is recovering. Please give our family privacy.”

Then Dharmendra returned home. At that time, his ‘Sholay’ co-star Amitabh Bachchan himself drove to see him. A few days ago, several media outlets had reported that Dharmendra was receiving treatment at home and was on the road to recovery.

In the meantime, the news of his death came. The Times of India wrote that security was tightened outside Dharmendra’s Juhu house in Mumbai after Dharmendra’s condition deteriorated on Monday.

An ambulance was seen leaving his house in the morning. His wife actress Hema Malini and Esha Deol were seen at the Pawan Hans crematorium. And Amitabh Bachchan, Salim Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Akshay Kumar, producer Anil Sharma and many others reached the crematorium.

Dharmendra’s death has cast a deep shadow of grief on the Indian film industry. From Indian Prime Minister Narendra Singh Modi to veteran Bollywood actresses Sharmila Tagore, Saira Banu, Karan Johar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Boman Irani, Ananya Panday and many others have expressed their condolences on social media.

Dharmendra’s full name is Dharmendra Kewal Krishan Deol. He was born on December 8, 1935 in Nasrali, Punjab. This child of a poor farmer’s family had a strong attraction to cinema since childhood. He entered Bollywood in 1960 by winning the Filmfare ‘Talent Competition’. Dharmendra made his Bollywood debut with the film ‘Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere’ in 1960. From then on, it started.

Dharmendra has left an impression of his outstanding talent by acting in more than three hundred films over six decades.

In the mid-sixties, Dharmendra added the ‘hero’ tag to his name by playing the role of a romantic hero in the films ‘Phool Aur Pathar’ and ‘Anupama’, ‘Aye Din Bahar Ke’.

In addition, Dharmendra has shaken the screen as an action hero in films like ‘Dharma Veer’ and ‘Hukumat’. He made his name in films like ‘Bandini’, ‘Anyapadh’, ‘Satyakam’, ‘Aya Sawan Jhumke’, ‘Dream Girl’, ‘Mera Gaon Mera Desh’, ‘Dost’ and many more.

Although he initially gained fame as a hero, Dharmendra gradually made a strong impression in acting in comedy roles. In particular, the film ‘Chupke Chupke’ directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee is considered a milestone in his career.

However, Dharmendra’s career turned around with Ramesh Sippy’s classic film ‘Sholay’. The film about two young gangsters named Jay and Veeru, who are called by Tagore, became Bollywood history. The friendship between Jay and Veeru, played by Dharmendra and Amitabh in the film, is still remembered by the audience.

In 2012, he was awarded the ‘Padma Bhushan’, India’s third highest civilian award.

Dharmendra was last seen in ‘Teri Baato Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya’. The film starred Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon.

In addition, Dharmendra’s last film ‘Ikkis’ is coming on the 25th of next month. The trailer of the film directed by Sriram Raghavan has been released.

Dharmendra and Hema Malini were in the news for a long time due to their love marriage. The two first shared the screen in the film ‘Tum Hasin Main Jawan’ in 1970. And their four hands were united in 1979.

However, when the two actors started giving and taking their hearts, Dharmendra was married and had four children.

Although it was decided to marry Hema Malini, the hero did not get a divorce from his first wife. Of course, these two Bollywood stars converted to Islam and got married according to that religion. Dharmendra became known as ‘Dilwar Khan Kewal Krishna’. The couple has two daughters, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol.

Dharmendra and Hema Malini have worked together in more than 30 films. Among them, ‘Sita Aur Geeta’, ‘Dreamgirl’, ‘Sharif Badmash’, ‘Jugnu’, ‘Dost’ are timeless.

And Dharmendra has four children from his first wife Prakash Kaur.

They are Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Ajita Deol and Vijita Deol. However, Dharmendra lived in the same house with his first wife for many years.
