Measles vaccination to start in Chattogram on Sunday

The vaccination programme will start in Chattogram as elsewhere in the country next Sunday.

The Chattogram District Civil Surgeon’s Office will conduct the programme following the instructions of the Ministry of Health amid the recent outbreak of Measles.

This information was given in a notification sent from the District Civil Surgeon’s Office today.

Civil Surgeon Dr. Jahangir Alam said, children aged 6 months to 10 years will be vaccinated against Measles in 15 upazilas of Chattogram district.

In addition, one dose of MR vaccine will be administered in the wards of each union under all Upazila Health Complexes through sub-blocks.

However, the Civil Surgeon said, the entire district will gradually come under this vaccination programme.

Meanwhile, a list of those who have been excluded from the Measles vaccination is being prepared by the Upazila Health Complex in Hathazari of Chattogram.

In addition to the names of the children on this list, one hundred and four persons have already been vaccinated.

At the same time, Measles vaccination will also start in Hathazari on next Sunday under a special nationwide campaign.
