BGB Seizes Large Consignment of Indian Medicines Worth BDT 5.3 Million in Mirsharai
The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized a massive cache of illegal Indian medicines in the Taltala area near the Jorarganj border in Mirsarai upazila on Monday (20 April) in a successful anti-smuggling operation. Acting on a tip-off, a patrol team from the Ramgarh Battalion (43 BGB) conducted a special raid in the border zone. Sensing the presence of the BGB personnel, the smugglers abandoned their cargo and fled the scene, disappearing into the nearby terrain. Upon searching the site, the BGB recovered various categories of medicines with an estimated market value of BDT 5,327,114.
Lieutenant Colonel Ahsan Ullah Islam, Commander of the Ramgarh Battalion, confirmed the details of the seizure. The confiscated haul included a high volume of specialized medications, such as 30,720 pieces of Senegra tablets, 7,200 pieces of My Rose, 5,790 pieces of Folisim and 5,338 units of various other drugs. Additionally, high-value medical items like Freestyle Libre 2 Plus (CGM) sensors and Mycophenolate Sodium tablets were among the seized items.
The BGB authorities stated that the confiscated goods are being processed for handover to the relevant customs office for legal action. They further reiterated their commitment to maintaining strict surveillance along the border to curb the illegal trade of medicine and other contraband.
