Curfew on Students in Feni After Maghrib to Curb Juvenile Delinquency

The Feni district administration has taken a strict stance to curb juvenile delinquency, maintain law and order, and ensure the overall safety of students. As part of these measures, a restriction has been imposed on students wandering outside unnecessarily after Maghrib prayers until further notice. Concurrently, the administration has specially requested parents to increase surveillance and monitoring over their children. Feni Deputy Commissioner Monira Haq confirmed the matter to the media on Saturday afternoon (July 18).

According to district administration sources, this decision was finalized during a meeting of the District Law and Order Committee to counter the rising trend of youth crimes and restore a disciplined environment for students. Awareness and advisory announcements via loudspeakers began across the district on Friday (July 17). To ensure effective implementation of the directives, the police force will be working on the ground alongside special monitoring teams from the district administration.

Elaborating on the initiative, Feni Deputy Commissioner Monira Haq stated that the issues of juvenile delinquency and gang culture had been repeatedly raised during the District Law and Order Committee meetings. She noted that many students are staying outside unnecessarily after Maghrib instead of studying, and a significant portion of them eventually get exposed to drugs. Considering these pressing factors, the administration decided to take this preventive step.

The Deputy Commissioner clarified that this is not a punitive or oppressive measure, and it does not mean legal action will be indiscriminately taken against every student who goes outside. Instead, the main objective is to reduce the influence of juvenile gangs, raise awareness among parents, and discourage students from loitering unnecessarily after dark. To make this initiative successful, the district administration has sought the heartfelt cooperation of local parents, school teachers, and citizens from all walks of life.
