BGB Seizes Smuggled Indian Goods Worth Tk 22.25 Lakh in Feni Border Drive

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized a large consignment of smuggled Indian UV sunglasses and sarees valued at approximately Tk 22.25 lakh during a special drive along the Feni border. The BGB Feni Battalion recovered the contraband from the Fulgazi border area on Tuesday (August 18, 2026).

According to BGB sources, the operation was conducted as part of routine border surveillance aimed at curbing smuggling and drug trafficking. During the drive, BGB personnel intercepted and confiscated a significant quantity of high-end Indian sarees and UV sunglasses illegally brought across the border, with an estimated market value of Tk 22,25,000. Process is currently underway to hand over the seized goods to the local Customs authorities for further legal procedures.

Confirming the operation, Lieutenant Colonel M M Zillur Rahman, Commander of the BGB Feni Battalion, reaffirmed the force’s unwavering stance against border crimes. He emphasized that the BGB remains vigilant and dedicated to preventing drug trafficking, illegal entry, and smuggling, assuring that such anti-smuggling drives will continue in the future to maintain total security along the border.
