Listed Criminal ‘Picchi Zahid’ Hacked to Death in Satkania

Zahidul Islam, alias “Picchi Zahid,” a listed criminal facing over a dozen criminal cases, was hacked to death by unidentified miscreants in the Satkania Upazila of Chattogram on Sunday night (August 30, 2026). The deadly ambush occurred while he was riding a motorcycle in the Monowarabad area under the Purangarh Union.

According to local sources and law enforcement, the attackers intercepted Zahidul and inflicted severe, sharp-force injuries to his head and body. Local residents rushed the critically injured man to a nearby healthcare facility, where attending physicians declared him dead on arrival.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Satkania Circle) Ariful Islam Siddiqui confirmed the incident, stating that initial findings suggest the murder was a premeditated attack stemming from previous rivalries. Police are actively investigating the incident to identify and apprehend those responsible.

Zahidul, a resident of Purangarh Union, had a extensive criminal record across Chattogram city and district. Police databases indicate he was named in at least 12 cases involving murder, illegal firearms, explosives, and narcotics—including six cases registered under district police stations alone. Long associated with drug trafficking, extortion, and illegal firearms offenses in Chattogram city’s Firozshah area, Zahidul was previously arrested in January during a joint force operation that recovered 15 locally made weapons and 104 Yaba tablets from his possession. Having recently secured bail, he had returned to the area prior to Sunday’s attack.
