DC and SP Lead Mosquito Control and Cleanliness Drive in Anwara
As part of the nationwide National Dengue Prevention and Cleanliness Campaign 2026, a special dengue prevention, mosquito extermination, and cleanliness drive was conducted in Anwara Upazila of Chattogram on Saturday afternoon (October 24, 2026). During the program, Chattogram Deputy Commissioner (DC) Zahidul Islam Miah and Superintendent of Police (SP) Md. Masud Alam joined hands to clean an abandoned pond located inside the premises of Anwara Police Station.
Organized under the Chattogram District Administration’s initiative slogan, “Clean Up City and Village, Build an Aesthetic Chattogram,” the event commenced with a public awareness rally from the Upazila Parishad premises. The procession traversed the main upazila roads before concluding at Anwara Police Station, where fogging machines were subsequently deployed along various streets to destroy mosquito breeding grounds.
Addressing participants after the rally, Deputy Commissioner Zahidul Islam Miah emphasized that medical treatment alone cannot contain dengue, stressing the necessity of proactive measures such as preventing stagnant water accumulation around residences, shops, and commercial establishments. Superintendent of Police Md. Masud Alam praised the cleanliness initiative within the police station premises and urged residents to maintain strict hygiene across homesteads, yards, and drainage networks to halt Aedes mosquito breeding.
The event was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education & ICT) Pathan Md. Saiduzzaman, Anwara Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohin Uddin, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Abu Jafor Mazumder, and Anwara Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Junayet Chowdhury, along with administrative officials and local political leaders.
