English Olympiad Merit Scholarship Competition Held in Sandwip

The 3rd English Olympiad Merit Scholarship Competition was held at Muchapur Haji Abdul Baten High School in Sandwip Upazila on Saturday (October 31, 2026), aimed at eliminating the fear of English among students and developing their proficiency in the language from an early age.

Organized by the Mahfuz-Sufia Foundation, the Olympiad was sponsored by BNP Executive Committee Member Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan Milton and supervised by the Secondary Assistant Teachers Association.

A total of 715 secondary school students from grades six through nine across Sandwip participated in the competitive examination, comprising 214 sixth-graders, 169 seventh-graders, 185 eighth-graders, and 147 ninth-graders.

The competition was administered by Center Secretary Md. Main Uddin, Center Superintendent Didarul Alam, and Controller of Examinations Fazlul Karim. Highlight-ing the significance of the initiative, Center Secretary Md. Main Uddin noted that students from Sandwip often fall behind in competitive examinations and career pursuits due to weakness in English, expressing hope that similar academic foundation programs will inspire further community support.
