After a 33-year hiatus, the US president’s sudden approval of nuclear testing has created a stir in the international arena. World superpowers are now scrambling to decide their strategy. In immediate response, nuclear-armed countries have expressed deep concern.

Russia says that this US move is pushing the world towards instability again. At the same time, the head of the Russian parliament’s defense committee said that this decision is creating a new area of conflict. At the same time, he also called it a dangerous provocation.

Iran has also reacted strongly to the US president’s order. The country’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi condemned Trump’s move and called it ‘irresponsible’.

In a message on the social media X on Thursday (October 30) night, the Iranian Foreign Minister said, ‘By renaming the defense department as the war department, the tyrant country armed with nuclear weapons is once again starting its nuclear weapons testing activities.’

Nine countries in the world currently have nuclear weapons. Russia has the largest stockpile of such weapons, with about 5,500. The United States has more than 5,000. These two countries own about 90 percent of the world’s total nuclear weapons.

China has an estimated 600 nuclear warheads. Security analysts fear that this number will increase again as a new arms race begins between Russia, the United States, and China.
