What is happening in Bangladeshi club football? FIFA bans clubs one after another. This year, after Fakirerpul Youngmens and Bashundhara Kings, the traditional Dhaka Mohammedan has also been banned by FIFA. World football’s governing body FIFA banned Mohammedan’s player registration last Wednesday.
FIFA imposed this ban based on the complaint of Iranian footballer Misam Shah Zadeh, who played for Mohammedan in the 2022-23 football season. Misam complained to FIFA after not receiving money as per the contract. FIFA has taken note of his complaint and banned Mohammedan’s player registration.
The ban on Mohammedan’s footballer registration will remain in place until Misam’s dues are paid. FIFA’s letter to Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited states that Mohammedan has not yet paid Misam Shah Makband Zadeh’s financial dues. In light of this, FIFA has imposed a ban on Mohammedan from registering new players internationally and nationally. This ban will remain in effect until they pay their dues.
In this regard, Mohammedan coach Alfaz Ahmed told Prothom Alo, “The Iranian player was dismissed after paying his dues at the end of the first phase of the 2022-23 league. But he complained to FIFA that he would probably receive 5 months’ salary. It seems that he asked for 5 months’ salary at 8 thousand dollars a month.” A source at the Mohammedan club said that the Iranian footballer’s outstanding salary, including the fine, is 60 thousand US dollars.
