Fire at Textile Factory in CEPZ, Workers Panic in Nine-Storey Building

A devastating fire broke out at a textile factory named Al Hamid Textile in the Chittagong Export Processing Zone (CEPZ) on Thursday afternoon. The factory, which manufactures hospital equipment, is located in a nine-storey building where more than 500 workers were reportedly present when the blaze started.

According to sources, the fire originated around 2:00 PM on October 16 (Thursday). Witnesses said that thick smoke quickly engulfed the building, creating panic among workers who rushed to escape.

Deputy Director of the Chittagong Fire Service, Md. Jasim Uddin, confirmed that 14 units from six different fire stations were deployed to bring the fire under control. Firefighters have been working tirelessly to contain the flames and ensure the safety of the workers.

Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the fire and assess the extent of the damage. However, no casualties have been reported so far. Emergency teams and industrial police are on the scene to assist with rescue operations and maintain order.
