Out of the last 5 rounds of adjustment in the country’s market, the price of silver has increased 3 times. Of these, the last 2 consecutive rounds have been increased by a total of 711 taka.
In a notification issued on Monday (December 22) night, the Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) has increased the price of silver for the second consecutive round. This time, the organization has increased the price of 385 taka per bhori.
The notification said that the price of silver in the local market has increased. As a result, the new price of silver has been fixed considering the overall situation.
According to the new price, the price of 22-carat silver per bhori (11.664 grams) will be 4,957 taka. In addition, the price of 21-carat bhori has been fixed at 4,724 taka, 18-carat bhori at 4,082 taka, and the price of traditional silver per bhori has been fixed at 3,033 taka.
In the notification, Bajus also said that the government-determined 5 percent VAT and Bajus-determined minimum wage of 6 percent must be added to the selling price of silver. However, the wage may vary depending on the design and quality of the jewelry.
The last time the price of silver was adjusted was on December 13 of this year. At that time, the price of a 22-carat bhori was increased by Tk 326 to Tk 4,572.
The price of 21-carat bhori was set at Tk 4,362, 18-carat bhori at Tk 3,732, and traditional silver bhori at Tk 2,799. This was effective from December 14.
So far this year, the price of silver has been adjusted 11 times. Of these, it has increased 8 times and decreased only 3 times. And last year, it was adjusted 3 times.
Meanwhile, the price of a 22-carat gold bhori has been increased by Tk 3,966 to Tk 2,22,083. In addition, the price of gold has been fixed at 211,993 taka per bhori for 21 carats, 181,725 taka per bhori for 18 carats and 151,399 taka per bhori for traditional method.
In this regard, the price of gold has been adjusted in the domestic market a total of 88 times this year. Where the price has been increased 61 times, and decreased only 27 times. And in 2024, the price of gold has been adjusted in the domestic market a total of 62 times. Where the price was increased 35 times, and decreased 27 times.
