Former US Vice President Kamala Harris has hinted at running for president again. She said she could once again enter the race to capture the White House. She said this in an interview with the BBC.
This is her first interview with the BBC since losing the 2024 presidential election to Republican Donald Trump. The interview aired on Saturday (October 25).
In the interview, she said she “maybe” be president one day and that she is confident that there will be a female president in the White House in the future and that she will be that person.
This is her clearest indication yet that she will run again in the 2028 election. Although recent polls have put her behind as the next Democratic nominee, she is not paying attention to these polls.
In an interview on the BBC’s “Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg” program, Harris called her former rival Trump “a dictator” and said that the warnings she gave about Trump during the election campaign have now come true.
After Republican Donald Trump’s landslide victory a year ago, Democrats are still searching for the reasons for their defeat, with much of the blame being placed on former President Joe Biden. He is being put on trial for not withdrawing from the candidacy earlier.
However, questions have also arisen as to whether Harris, who became a candidate later, could have campaigned better? Should her message, especially on economic issues, have been clearer? Amidst all these discussions and debates, Harris hinted at returning to the presidential race in an interview with the BBC.
However, she said that she has not made a final decision yet. But her role in politics is not over yet. In her words, “My fight is not over yet. My whole life is dedicated to serving the people—it’s like it’s in my bones.”
In the current poll, she is even behind Hollywood actor Dwayne Johnson, known as The Rock. When asked about the issue, Harris said, “I never made a decision based on the polls. If I had, I wouldn’t have run for office in the first place, maybe not even for vice president—and I certainly wouldn’t be where I am today.”
