A daring burglary took place at the Karnafuli Upazila Land Office in Chattogram late Thursday night, sparking concern among officials and locals. According to office sources, the incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 30.

Unknown assailants broke into the office and stole two important computer units containing crucial administrative data. The theft was discovered early Friday morning when staff arrived to begin their workday. Upon learning of the incident, the Assistant Commissioner (Land), Md. Al-Amin, confirmed the theft and immediately informed the Karnafuli Police Station, who began an investigation at the scene.

Law enforcement officials have already started collecting evidence and are reviewing security measures in the area. The local police suspect that the burglars had prior knowledge of the office’s layout and security arrangements, as the theft appeared to be well-planned and executed within a short time.

This incident follows another burglary at Shikalbaha Union Parishad earlier this month, on October 18, where thieves also targeted official property. Authorities have yet to identify those responsible for that case, raising questions about a possible pattern or connection between the two incidents.

Local residents and employees have expressed concern over the increasing number of such nighttime burglaries at government institutions, calling for enhanced security and surveillance systems to prevent further occurrences.

Police sources said the investigation is ongoing, and several key leads and clues have already been collected from the scene.
