The sale of energy drinks has been banned in restaurants, offices and schools in Kuwait. At the same time, some other restrictions have been imposed on the sale and consumption of such drinks. Kuwaiti Health Minister Ahmed Abdulwahab Al-Awadhi announced the decision in an announcement on Wednesday.

The new regulations set the age limit for buying and drinking energy drinks, the daily limit and the place of sale. According to the new rules, energy drinks can only be sold to people over 18 years of age. A person can consume a maximum of two cans per day. The amount of caffeine in each 250-ml can cannot exceed 80 milligrams.

It has been made mandatory for manufacturers and importers to provide clear health warnings on the packaging. At the same time, advertising and sponsorship related to energy drinks have also been banned.

The directive states that the sale and consumption of energy drinks is completely prohibited in all types of government and private schools, colleges and universities. Apart from this, the product cannot be sold in government offices and institutions.

The sale of energy drinks is prohibited in restaurants, cafes, grocery stores, food trucks and automatic vending machines. Online orders and home delivery will also fall under this ban.

Energy drinks can be sold only in designated areas of cooperative societies and approved markets. Strict surveillance will be done to verify age and ensure compliance with daily limits.
