The United States, Turkey, Egypt and Qatar discussed the situation in Gaza in Miami, US, on Friday (December 19). Turkey was represented by Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Onku Keçeli made the statement to US social media company X.
Keçeli said, “The meeting assessed the issues related to the implementation of the first phase of the Gaza peace plan and exchanged views on the second phase process.”
He added that the discussions noted that “despite the violations of the ceasefire achieved in the first phase, it continues, the release of hostages has been completed and the conflict has largely stopped.”
The spokesperson added that in the second phase, measures were discussed to ensure that the Gaza Strip can be governed by the leaders of Gaza. The peace plan also assessed the steps related to a possible peace council and an international stabilization force.
Keseli said that towards the end of the meeting, Fidan discussed with officials in Miami diplomatic efforts to end the war between Russia and Ukraine.
