Notorious Fugitive Md. Shawkat Ali Arrested in Connection with 4 Cases

Chattogram, April 6, 2026: Acting on a secret tip-off, a special team of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP), led by Mr. Hossain Mohammad Kabir Bhuiyan, Additional Deputy Commissioner (South Zone), along with Assistant Police Commissioner (Chakbazar Zone) Mr. Md. Tarikul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Bakolia Thana Mr. Mohammad Solaiman, and Inspector (Investigation) Mr. Tanvir Ahmed, conducted a raid at around 3:30 AM on April 6, 2026.
The team arrested the notorious fugitive accused Md. Shawkat Ali alias Shawkat (26) from his residence on the 5th floor of Shatabdi Tower, behind Nekkar Bari, Ali Store Building, Taktarpul area under Bakolia Police Station, Chattogram.
The arrested individual is the son of Md. Idris Mia and Salma Begum, originally from Ashrafpur, Mir Bari, Ward No. 09, Kachua Police Station, Chandpur district, and currently residing in the aforementioned address in Chattogram.
He was directly involved in the following cases registered at Bakolia Thana:

Bakolia PS Case No. 03(04)2026
Bakolia PS Case No. 11(04)2026
Bakolia PS Case No. 07(04)2026
Bakolia PS Case No. 02(07)2025

Additionally, review of police records revealed another case against him — Bakolia PS Case No. 21(07)2025.
After preliminary interrogation, the accused was produced before the competent court.
CMP authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to zero tolerance against crime and stated that operations to arrest fugitives and maintain law and order in the city will continue unabated.
