The wait is finally over for Marvel fans. After a spectacular 24-hour teaser campaign, Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios have officially dropped the highly anticipated first trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Tom Holland returns as the world’s favorite web-slinger, but this time, Peter Parker is completely on his own—and he’s about to face some of the most brutal forces the Marvel Cinematic Universe has to offer, including Jon Bernthal’s iconic vigilante, The Punisher.
Set to hit theaters on July 31, 2026, the fourth installment in Holland’s Spider-Man saga promises a gritty, street-level reset following the multiverse-shattering events of 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home. The trailer establishes a heartbreaking new reality: Peter is broke, anonymous, and deeply isolated after Doctor Strange’s spell wiped his existence from the world’s memory. To make matters worse, his former love MJ (Zendaya) has moved on with a new boyfriend (played by Ahsoka’s Eman Esfandi), and his best friend Ned (Jacob Batalon) no longer recognizes him.
However, a broken heart is the least of Peter’s worries. The new footage teases a dark and dangerous biological threat to the hero himself. Peter appears to be undergoing a strange metamorphosis—waking up in a bizarre web-like cocoon and manifesting black eyes—which seemingly leaves him with organic web-shooters.
Seeking answers for his mysterious mutation, Peter turns to an original Avenger for help: Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner, who makes a surprise appearance in the footage. But the streets of New York are unforgiving. The trailer previews a fierce collision course between Spider-Man and Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle, highlighted by an intense sequence where the Punisher’s Battle Van nearly runs the wall-crawler down.
If dealing with a ruthless vigilante wasn’t enough, Spidey’s rogues’ gallery is expanding. Michael Mando makes his long-awaited return as Mac Gargan, fully suited up as the Scorpion, while the dreaded ninja syndicate, The Hand, is also spotted lurking in the shadows. Adding to the intrigue is Stranger Things star Sadie Sink, who makes a brief appearance in a mysterious, undisclosed role.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), Spider-Man: Brand New Day trades the cosmic scale of the Avengers for the grimy, perilous blocks of New York City. With unprecedented personal stakes, intense action, and a heavyweight ensemble cast, the film is shaping up to be the ultimate fresh start for the franchise.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into cinemas worldwide on July 31, 2026.
