A specialized Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccination campaign was successfully conducted on Tuesday (21 April) at the S.M. Pilot High School in the Chhinnomul area of Jungle Salimpur, Sitakunda. During the day-long initiative, a total of 570 children were immunized to strengthen community immunity against these highly contagious viral diseases.
The event was graced by the Additional Divisional Commissioner (Development) of Chattogram, Nusrat Sultana, who attended as the chief guest. In her address, she emphasized that the government is dedicated to ensuring that essential healthcare and life-saving vaccines reach every child, particularly those living in remote or marginalized settlements like Jungle Salimpur.
The campaign was supported by a team of high-level health and administrative officials who attended as special guests, including the Divisional Director of Health, Dr. Sheikh Fazle Rabbi and the Civil Surgeon of Chattogram, Dr. Jahangir Alam. They were joined by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education & ICT), Pathan Md. Saiduzzaman and the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Sitakunda, Md. Fakhrul Islam.
Health experts noted that conducting such localized camps is vital for preventing outbreaks in densely populated areas. Throughout the day, health workers also provided counseling to parents on the importance of routine immunization, while local residents expressed their appreciation for the convenient access to these critical medical services.
