A legal case has been filed against five individuals, including three prominent doctors, following the tragic death of a young mother named Naima Akter Liza due to alleged medical negligence. The Feni Model Thana Police confirmed the development on Friday (April 17, 2026), stating that the victim’s father, Mohammad Nur Karim, initiated the case on Wednesday night.
The accused named in the case are Dr. Nazmul Haque Bhuiyan (Owner of One Stop Maternity Clinic), Dr. Nasrin Akter Mukta, Dr. Abdul Kaiyum (Owner of Feni Private Hospital), Gita Rani (Family Welfare Visitor at Motobi Union Health Center) and Atiqur Rahman (Manager of One Stop Maternity Clinic). Atiqur Rahman is currently in custody after being detained and handed over to the police by an agitated crowd on the day of the incident.
According to the case details, Naima Akter Liza was admitted to the One Stop Maternity Clinic on April 10 with labor pains. Following a surgery that night, she suffered from severe excessive bleeding. The next morning, the clinic authorities transferred her to Feni Private Hospital, leaving the newborn behind. After keeping her in the operating theater for four hours, the hospital referred her to Chattogram. Tragically, Liza passed away in the ambulance while en route to Chattogram.
Feni Civil Surgeon Dr. Mohammad Rubaiyat Bin Karim confirmed that three separate investigation committees have been formed to look into the incident. He noted that the investigation teams are in the final stages of their work and a formal report is expected to be released shortly.
