A mobile court drive fined two pharmacies a total of Tk 25,000 at Gazinagar Bazar under Charpata Union in Raipur Upazila of Lakshmipur district for selling medicines without prescriptions and operating without valid licenses.
During the anti-adulteration drive conducted on Tuesday (July 14, 2026), Dipto Medical Hall was fined Tk 20,000, and Riyad Pharmacy was penalized Tk 5,000 under Sections 40(D) and 40(C) of the Medicine and Cosmetics Act, 2023. The monetary penalties were heavily imposed and collected on the spot from both defaulting establishments.
The executive operation was led by Raipur Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Nigar Sultana. The mobile court was strongly assisted by Dr. Mamunur Rashid, Resident Medical Officer (RMO) of Raipur Upazila Health Complex, the Superintendent of the Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA) Lakshmipur district office, and a dedicated team from the Raipur Police Station.
During the raid, the law enforcement authorities ordered the immediate closure of Dipto Medical Hall, instructing the management to report to the Upazila Health Complex the following day with all relevant operational documents. Officials noted that the appropriate authorities will initiate further legal proceedings once the verified documents undergo thorough scrutiny. The Executive Magistrate reiterated that similar strict monitoring drives will continue in the future to protect public health.
