The Noakhali District Detective Branch (DB) of police conducted a raid and arrested two armed individuals along with a countrymade single-barrel gun (LG). The district police confirmed the matter through a press release on Saturday afternoon. The arrests were made late Friday night (August 15) from the ground floor of the ‘Darus Sunnah Ebtedayee Madrasa’ building located in the Paschim Maizdee area of Kadirhanif Union under Sadar Upazila.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Parvez Hossain (31), son of the late Abdul Hoque, and Md. Faisal (23), son of Abul Kalam. Both suspects reside in the Paschim Maizdee (Shantingari) area under Ward No. 1 of Noakhali Municipality.
According to local sources, with the assistance of local residents, DB personnel caught the two suspects red-handed inside a room adjacent to the western side of the ground-floor staircase of the three-story madrasa building. A subsequent search of their possession led to the recovery of one old, locally crafted single-barrel gun.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Finance) Abu Taher Md. Arif Hossain stated that filing a case against the arrested accused under the Arms Act with Sudharam Model Police Station is currently underway.
