World Population Day was celebrated in Patiya, Chittagong, with the theme “Realizing the hopes and aspirations of youth; building a beautiful tomorrow with today’s promise.” To mark the occasion, a discussion meeting and an award distribution ceremony were organized by the Upazila Family Planning Office at the Upazila Parishad auditorium on Sunday (July 12, 2026). This year, Mrs. Mita Dey of Kashiyaish Union was officially recognized and awarded as the Upazila’s Best Family Welfare Assistant (FWA).
The program was presided over by Upazila Family Planning Officer Sharmin Akter Himu, with Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Roya Tripura attending as the chief guest. Special guests included Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Md. Abu Tayyab, Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer Swapan Chandra Dey, Former Member Secretary of Municipal BNP Gazi Abu Taher, Upazila Primary Education Officer Biswajit Karmakar, Upazila Agriculture Extension Officer Tapan Kumar Roy, Upazila Food Controller Md. Jamal Hossain, Upazila Information Officer Md. Rahmat Ullah Chowdhury and Acting Chairman of Kusumpara Union Parishad Shawkat Akbar.
Upon receiving the prestigious honor, Mrs. Mita Dey expressed her immense joy and gratitude to the local administration, public representatives, and her family. In her speech, she stated:
“I am deeply delighted, proud, and grateful to be selected as the ‘Best Family Welfare Assistant’ at the upazila level on this special day. This glorious achievement does not belong to me alone; it is a victory for the health, well-being, and awareness of the general public of my Kashiyaish Union.”
She extended her heartfelt thanks and respect to Alhaj Enamul Haque Enam, the Honorable Member of Parliament for the Chittagong-12 (Patiya) constituency, Patiya Upazila Nirbahi Officer Farhanur Rahman, program president Sharmin Akter Himu, all upazila and field-level colleagues, and her mother-in-law, Ratna Chowdhury.
Mrs. Mita Dey has been working tirelessly as a Family Welfare Assistant in the 8/A unit of the No. 8 Kashiyaish Union Health Complex since 2012. This top accolade serves as a testament to her unwavering dedication to maternal and child healthcare, family planning, and grassroots health awareness over the last 14 years.
