“This year’s examinations were held in a fair and peaceful environment without any question paper leaks or untoward incidents,” he told a press conference at his office today (June 18), marking four months since he assumed office.

Dr Milon outlined ongoing activities and future plans, saying the ministry is implementing reforms, improving quality, and introducing student-friendly initiatives under the government’s 180-day programme.

He said scholarship examinations at the primary and secondary levels, which had been suspended, were completed soon after he took charge.

He added that the ministry resolved a long-standing issue involving the exclusion of private and kindergarten schools from scholarship activities through coordination with stakeholders.

The minister said the ministry is reducing session backlogs by arranging SSC and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations immediately after syllabus completion. The ministry now announces exam schedules a year in advance for the convenience of students, guardians and institutions.

He highlighted that ongoing projects aim to improve education quality, including modernising the sector.

As part of these initiatives, the ministry has provided ICT training to 120,000 teachers under the National University, he said. The ministry also organised an “Innovation Idea Showcase” nationwide to promote creative educational activities, with its concluding events scheduled for June 28 and 29.

He also stressed the importance of sports for students’ physical and mental development, noting that a nationwide primary school football competition, involving both boys and girls, has been underway since April 4 and will conclude with a final at the National Stadium on June 20.

Dr Milon said the government aims to build a joyful and humane education system.
