The Bayezid Journalists Forum (BSF) has been formed with professional journalists permanently residing in the Bayezid Bostami Police Station area of Chattogram Metropolitan City.
The organization officially launched on Tuesday evening, June 30, 2026, at a restaurant in Bayezid Bostami, Chattogram, with the participation of professional journalists working in various media outlets.
Following extensive discussions and with the unanimous consent of all attendees, journalist Ali Ahmad Shahin, Bureau Chief of Mohona Television Chattogram and Managing Editor of The Daily Info Bangla, was declared the Convener, while journalist Md. Mujib Ullah (Tushar), Executive Editor of the news agency Khobor Bangla, was named the Member Secretary.
Other members of the convening committee are journalist Masud Alam Sagor, Chattogram Bureau Chief of Daily Bangladesh Samachar; journalist Md. Mohiuddin Arif, Reporter of Bijoy Television; journalist Ayaz Ahmad Sani, Executive Editor of CTG Tribune; journalist Md. Abdus Sabur, Executive Editor of Priyo Swadesh; and Fazlul Karim Nahid, Staff Reporter of Daily Bangladesh Samachar.
Senior journalist, columnist, poet, and literary figure Kamal Parvez attended the event as the chief adviser and keynote discussant for the formation of the BSF convening committee. Journalist Mazharul Islam, former Assistant News Producer of Ekushey Television, and journalist Sohel Mahmud, Senior Reporter of Bangla TV, were announced as advisers to the organization.
Among those present were Md. Rashed, Chattogram Bureau Chief of News 21 Bangla TV; journalist Muhammad Amir Hossain, Staff Reporter of Daily Kalbela; journalist Md. Main Uddin (Sagor), Senior Staff Reporter of The Daily Morning Today and Daily Info Bangla; Imon of Bangla TV; journalist Md. Hafizur Rahman of Pathok Kantho; journalist Anwar Hossain Manik; journalist Md. Kawsar; and Shanto Islam Dipu, Staff Reporter of Daily Amar Barta, among others.
Speaking on the occasion, Convener Ali Ahmad Shahin said that the organization was established to unite professional journalists working in mainstream media who are permanent residents of the greater Bayezid Bostami area, the largest police station jurisdiction in Chattogram Metropolitan City. He emphasized that enhancing the professional standards of members would be the forum’s primary objective.
Member Secretary Mujib Ullah Tushar stated that the organization would work to improve journalists’ professional skills through various training programs. He also noted that BSF would serve as an important platform for communication and collaboration with journalists across Chattogram and the country.
During the discussion, leaders of the convening committee said the forum would not be a symbolic organization. Instead, it would regularly organize workshops, training sessions, and exchange meetings aimed at improving professional standards, enhancing skills, and providing proper guidance to the next generation of journalists. Supporting members in times of need and playing a constructive role in highlighting the challenges, prospects, and development of the greater Bayezid Bostami area through the media were also identified as key goals.
The forum will work continuously to strengthen professional security and networking opportunities for its members. The participants also urged the Press Council to play a more effective role in ensuring recognition and protection for professional journalists.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the newly formed committee decided to expand membership through a verification and screening process in its first official session.
