Bangladesh have announced a 15-member squad for the Pakistan series. Soumya Sarkar, Nahid Rana and Afif Hossain have returned to the team. Nurul Hasan Sohan, Jaker Ali and Shamim Hossain were left out of the squad for the last series against the West Indies.
Hasan Mahmud and Tanjim Hasan Shakib were left out of the team due to injuries. The BCB hopes to have them back on the field by the end of this month after completing their rehabilitation process.
Speaking about the squad, chief selector Gazi Ashraf Hossain Lipu said, “We have given opportunities to many players in the middle order. But unfortunately some players could not do anything significant to retain their places. Keeping that in mind, Afif Hossain has been called up again. He has a lot of experience and is currently in great form. Mahidul Ankan has been given another opportunity and this is an opportunity to showcase his talent to the fullest.”
Regarding Liton Das’ inclusion in the squad, Lipu said, “Liton Das’ recent ODI form may be questionable, but he is working closely with the coaches on his game. We believe he will be able to return to his best form in this format very soon and are considering him as an option to strengthen the middle order.”
Three matches of the Pakistan series will be held on March 11, 13 and 15. All matches will be held at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur.
