The Bangladesh Coast Guard has seized a large quantity of stolen coal, husks, and sugar during two separate special operations in the Patenga area of Chattogram. Four wooden boats used for smuggling were also confiscated during the raids conducted on Saturday, April 11.

According to Coast Guard sources, acting on a tip-off that a dishonest cycle was collecting goods illegally from commercial vessels anchored at the outer anchorage and hiding near Chinese Ghat, Ghat No. 18, and Ghat No. 14, the Coast Guard Outpost Patenga launched the operations.

The raids took place at 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM on Saturday. Upon searching four suspicious wooden boats, officials recovered 1,650 kg of coal, 960 kg of husks and 20 kg of sugar. The total estimated value of the seized goods and boats is approximately 5.30 lakh BDT.

The Coast Guard stated that legal proceedings regarding the seized goods and the vessels used in the smuggling are currently underway. They further reaffirmed their commitment to continuing such drives to curb theft and smuggling in coastal areas.
