A pall of gloom has descended over Sandwip as Nizam Uddin Shimul (28), a young expatriate from Chattogram, passed away following a tragic road accident in Saudi Arabia. He breathed his last at approximately 9:00 PM Bangladesh time on Thursday while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Medina.

The deceased was the son of Jamal Uddin, hailing from Ward No. 8 of Maitbhanga Union in Sandwip Upazila. According to local sources, Shimul moved to Saudi Arabia only a year ago to support his family, leaving behind his wife and two young daughters. His neighbor, Al Nahiyan, confirmed that the fatal accident occurred in the city of Medina, leading to his untimely demise.

The news of the death has left the local community in shock, as Shimul was regarded as a hardworking remittance warrior. His family is now seeking assistance from the government and relevant authorities to bring his body back to his ancestral home for burial.
