The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) organized a day-long free medical camp, a flood preparedness awareness meeting and an educational material distribution event in Parshuram Upazila of Feni. Managed by the BGB Feni Battalion as part of their corporate social responsibility, the welfare campaign took place on Wednesday, July 15, at the Parshuram Model Government Primary School ground. Over 3,500 underprivileged residents from border-adjacent and flood-prone areas received advanced medical consultations and necessary medicines entirely free of charge.
The medical campaign was officially inaugurated at 10:00 AM by Parshuram Upazila Nirbahi Officer Atanu Barua. The temporary camp featured eight specialized booths where eight expert doctors provided consultations in medicine, gynecology, ophthalmology, and dermatology. Alongside the medical consultations, patients benefited from complimentary blood tests, eye examinations, and a full supply of required prescription drugs.
Following the inauguration, a flood preparedness and awareness meeting was held at 11:00 AM to discuss proactive strategies for handling potential floods. Lieutenant Colonel M M Zillur Rahman, Commander of the BGB Feni Battalion, graced the seminar as the chief guest, while Feni Superintendent of Police Pratyush Kumar Majumder attended as a special guest. Local administration officials, public representatives, and citizens from various professions in the flood-vulnerable areas participated in the discussion, which detailed early preparation methods, ensuring safe shelters, rescue operations, and essential protocols during and after natural disasters.
Later at noon, the organizers distributed educational materials, notebooks, and pens to around 300 underprivileged students from the area. The guests also distributed winter blankets among the local distressed and impoverished population. The event was further attended by BGB Feni Assistant Director Jasim Uddin, Star Line Group Vice Chairman Jafar Uddin, Upazila Primary Education Officer Jamal Hossain Bhuiyan, and other relevant BGB officials and local dignitaries.
BGB Feni Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel M M Zillur Rahman stated that alongside protecting the borders, the BGB has always stood by helpless people out of social responsibility. He highlighted that free medical care and medicines were prioritize for the elderly, children, and underprivileged groups in the border-belt flood zones. Recalling BGB’s extensive support during the catastrophic floods of 2024, he reaffirmed that such humanitarian and service-oriented activities would continue in the future. Local elderly residents, including Maulana Nurul Haq and Saleha Khatun, highly praised the initiative, expressing deep gratitude for the respectful environment, quality consultations, and priority care extended to senior citizens.
