The reconstruction work of the historic Hazrat Farooq-e-Azam (RA) Jame Mosque in North Patenga has officially commenced. The foundation stone laying ceremony and a Doa Mahfil were held on Thursday (April 16, 2026) at the mosque premises adjacent to the Ansur Ali Sarang residence in North Maizpara.
Israfil Khosru, member of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) International Affairs Sub-Committee, attended the event as the chief guest. Presided over by the Mosque Management Committee President, Alhaj Mohammad Ershad Ali, the ceremony featured keynote discussions by Dr. Morshedul Haque, Professor of Islamic Studies at Chittagong University and Alhaj Maulana Yunus Tayyabi, Arabic Lecturer at Madrasa-e-Tayyabia Islamia Sunnia.
The event saw a significant gathering of local leaders and dignitaries, including Chattogram Metropolitan BNP Joint Convener Mohammad Mia Bhola, former Patenga Thana BNP President Mohammad Nurul Absar and former General Secretary Mohammad Shahabuddin, among others. Following the formal laying of the foundation stone, a special prayer was offered seeking the prosperity of the mosque and the welfare of the Muslim Ummah. The local community expressed great enthusiasm for the modernization of this traditional place of worship.
