546 Arrested, Contraband Seized in 24-Hour Special Drive Across Chattogram

Police have arrested 546 individuals in a major 24-hour special drive and routine operations conducted across the 11 districts under the Chattogram Range. The Chattogram Range Police Office confirmed the arrests and recovery metrics in an official report released on Tuesday (September 15, 2026).

According to police sources, the breakdown of the arrestees includes 108 individuals in regular cases, 72 in pending cases, 20 under Section 34 of the Police Act, 3 under Section 54 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), and 43 under Section 151 of the CrPC alongside other legal provisions. Additionally, 149 people were detained on execution warrants, while 34 were arrested under conviction warrants.

A total of 163 individuals were apprehended in connection with narcotics offenses. Among them, 117 were detained in specific drug cases (comprising 8 drug carriers and 109 consumers), while 46 drug dealers were arrested under regular and other existing cases.

During the single-day operation, law enforcement registered 33 new drug cases. Furthermore, mobile courts sentenced 67 individuals to varying prison terms and imposed fines totaling Tk 34,800.

During the raids, police seized 934 Yaba tablets, 17 liters of locally brewed liquor, 10.394 kilograms of cannabis, one bottle of foreign liquor, 10 bottles of Scuf syrup, and 75 Tapentadol tablets.

Chattogram Range Police affirmed that this special drive conducted in the public interest will continue as part of ongoing efforts to curb crime and eradicate drug trafficking.
