The municipal authorities of Chhagalnaiya Pourashava in Feni have officially announced their budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year. In the proposed budget, the total income—including revenue, development, and capital sectors—has been projected at BDT 71,31,03,647. Since the establishment of Chhagalnaiya Pourashava back in 2002, this stands as the highest-ever budget declared by the municipality to date.

The budget was presented yesterday, Saturday afternoon (July 4, 2026), at a declaration ceremony held in the Chhagalnaiya Pourashava hall room. The event was presided over by the Municipal Administrator and Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), Syed Farhana Pritha.

Special emphasis has been placed on infrastructure and enhancing civic amenities in this ‘Class-A’ municipality. While detailing the budget allocations, Municipal Administrator Syed Farhana Pritha stated that the fund has been designated for crucial sectors, including the construction and renovation of roads, culverts, and drainage systems, as well as the development of graveyards, crematoriums, public parks, a municipal super market, and dedicated housing facilities for sweepers.

Additionally, allocations have been earmarked for megaprojects aimed at modernizing the town, such as the construction of a modern model mosque, staff quarters for municipal officers and employees, an aesthetic modern entrance gate for the municipality, a water fountain at the Zero Point, and overall beautification works of the town. While presenting the comprehensive aspects of the proposed budget, the Administrator sought the earnest cooperation and all-out support of the local Member of Parliament (MP) to successfully implement the budget.

The event was attended by municipal officials, local dignitaries, and journalists. The announcement of this record-breaking budget has sparked enthusiasm and high hopes for massive development among the residents of Chhagalnaiya.
