Journalists under the banner of the Upazila Press Club formed a human chain along the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway in Mirsarai Municipality today (Sunday, September 6, 2026), protesting a violent terror attack on Kamrul Islam, the local correspondent for a private television channel.

During the demonstration, media professionals issued an ultimatum warning that if the perpetrators are not arrested within the next three days, local journalists will launch stricter protest programs, including a hunger strike.

Presided over by journalist Mahbub Palash, the protest meeting was addressed by Upazila Press Club President Abu Sayeed Bhuiyan and General Secretary M. Main Uddin. Among others who spoke and expressed solidarity at the event were journalists Bipul Das, Raju Kumar Dey, Rajib Majumder, Nasir Uddin, Mohammad Yousuf, Shihab Uddin Shiblu and Ajoy Kumar Das.
