DHAKA/COX’S BAZAR:
A targeted Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccination campaign for children aged six to 59 months has officially commenced today across 30 upazilas in 18 districts, including Maheshkhali and Ramu in Cox’s Bazar.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Mohammad Sakhawat Hossain inaugurated the campaign at the Nawabganj Upazila Health Complex in Dhaka. During the ceremony, the Minister announced that a massive nationwide vaccination drive covering all districts and upazilas will be rolled out on May 3, 2026.

Simultaneously, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed virtually inaugurated the campaign’s proceedings in Cox’s Bazar. Highlighting the local targets, Dr. Mohiuddin Mohammad Alamgir, the Acting Civil Surgeon of Cox’s Bazar, stated that a goal has been set to vaccinate 120,000 children within the Maheshkhali and Ramu upazilas alone.

Supported by UNICEF, this health initiative is being executed through the coordinated efforts of the District Administration and the Health Department to ensure maximum coverage and protection for infants against these infectious diseases.
