The Lakshmipur District Council organized a distribution ceremony on Saturday (18 April) in an effort to bolster social welfare and create employment opportunities. The event, held at the District Council ground, focused on supporting local religious institutions, assisting persons with disabilities and providing livelihood tools for the underprivileged.
During the program, grant checks were distributed to 10 madrasas and 8 mosques to support their infrastructure and operational needs. Additionally, 15 wheelchairs were handed over to individuals with physical disabilities to enhance their mobility. 10 auto-rickshaws were gifted to unemployed individuals, aiming to provide them with a sustainable source of income. Officials noted that these initiatives would play a vital role in improving the standard of living for the disadvantaged segments of society.
The ceremony was presided over by the District Council Administrator, Shahabuddin Sabu, with Water Resources Minister Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie attending as the chief guest. Other notable attendees included Lakshmipur Deputy Commissioner A.S.M. Mehedi Hasan, Superintendent of Police Abu Tareq and senior leaders from the District BNP and its affiliate organizations.
The speakers emphasized the government’s commitment to community development and self-reliance at the grassroots level.
