Iran said, the Strait of Hormuz will be “completely closed” if the United States targets the country’s energy infrastructures.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump late on Saturday threatened to “obliterate” Iranian power plants giving Iran an ultimatum of 48 hours to open the strait.
Iran also said on Sunday that it would strike the energy and desalination systems of the Gulf states in retaliation if US hits Iran’s electricity grid.
Meanwhile, Israel launched a wave of strikes on the Iranian capital Tehran overnight followed by Iranian retaliation with missiles.
More than 160 people have been injured in Southern Israel by missile strikes from Iran.
It seemed that the target of the Iranian attack was a nuclear facility 13 kilometres (8 miles) away from the town of Dimona in Israel.
Saudi Arabia and the UAE said, they intercepted missile attacks from Iran Sunday morning.
Analysts opined that such strikes and counter-strikes on civilian infrastructures can make the three-week long Middle East War worse and leave severe impact on global economy.
