BGB Thwarts BSF Attempt to Push In Seven Indian Nationals in Feni Border

Feni Correspondent

Members of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have successfully foiled an attempt by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) to forcibly push seven Indian nationals into Bangladeshi territory through the Parshuram border in Feni. The illegal push-in attempt was thwarted due to the immediate alertness and firm stance maintained by the border guards. The incident occurred around 4:30 AM on Saturday, July 25, near the Durgapur border area adjacent to Border Pillar 2145 under the jurisdiction of the Sreepur Border Outpost (BOP) of Feni Battalion (4 BGB).

According to BGB sources, a patrol team from BSF’s 43 Rajnagar camp attempted to forcibly push seven individuals—comprising six women and one young boy—across the border into Bangladesh in the early hours of Saturday. Upon noticing the unauthorized activity, patrolling BGB personnel promptly arrived at the spot, took strategic positions, and blocked their entry. Faced with the unwavering resistance of the BGB, the BSF members were compelled to retreat back into Indian territory with all seven individuals.

Based on primary investigations, the BGB confirmed the identities of the seven individuals who were nearly pushed across, verifying that all of them are Indian nationals. Authorities emphasized that no individual was allowed to cross or step foot into Bangladeshi territory during the entire standoff. Confirming the incident, Lieutenant Colonel M M Zillur Rahman, Commander of the BGB Feni Battalion, stated that BGB guards successfully repulsed the forced push-in attempt orchestrated by the Indian border force.

Lieutenant Colonel Rahman reaffirmed that the BGB remains on high alert at all times to prevent illegal entry, push-ins, or any violation of international border laws. He added that routine patrolling, intelligence surveillance, and necessary preventive measures have been intensified to guarantee the security of the country’s borders. The incident comes amid recent allegations regarding BSF push-in attempts across various border regions, during which the BGB reiterated its commitment to upholding international border protocols and existing bilateral frameworks while discharging its duties.
