Chennai: Suriya and Trisha Krishnan starrer fantasy-action entertainer Karuppu has shown a strong resurgence at the box office. On its 9th day (second Saturday), the film witnessed a massive 56.4% growth in collections compared to Friday.
According to Sacnilk, the movie collected ₹12.20 crore nett in India on Day 9.
Worldwide Collections
In just 9 days, Karuppu has grossed a total of ₹217.74 crore worldwide.
- India Nett: ₹133.85 crore
- India Gross: ₹154.99 crore
- Overseas Gross: ₹62.75 crore
The Tamil version continues to be the biggest contributor. On Saturday alone, the Tamil version raked in ₹10.60 crore nett. The Telugu version added ₹1.60 crore.
Tamil Nadu remains the strongest market, collecting ₹10.35 crore gross on Day 9. Karnataka and Andhra-Telangana regions also contributed steadily.
About the Film
Directed by popular comedian-turned-director RJ Balaji, Karuppu features Suriya in the role of a lawyer named Saravanan, who becomes the human avatar of the deity Karuppusamy. Trisha Krishnan plays the female lead.
After a moderate start in the first week, the film has picked up momentum in its second weekend, receiving positive word-of-mouth from audiences. Viewers are praising the perfect blend of commercial entertainment, engaging storytelling, and strong performances.
Suriya’s wife, actress Jyothika, recently expressed her happiness over the film’s performance, saying, “We are very happy. Suriya always wants to tell good stories. Box office numbers are also important. No actor wants to deliver a loss-making film.”
With its growing collections and strong hold in Tamil Nadu, Karuppu is steadily marching towards blockbuster status.
