MT News Desk

CHATTOGRAM: Professor Dr. Syeda Halima Begum of the Department of Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at University of Chittagong stated that the core identity of an ideal woman lies in the proper management of her family. She emphasized that a woman’s honesty and dedication are instrumental in guiding her husband, children and the entire household toward a moral path.

The discussion, titled “An Ideal Woman Can Transform Not Only a Family but also Society and the State,” was held on Saturday (April 11) afternoon at the event of the Shadhinotar Boi Mela. The event, organized by the Chattogram City Corporation (CCC), marked the 12th day of the 19-day long fair at the Gymnasium grounds adjacent to the District Stadium.

Dr. Halima critiqued modern social trends, noting that a negative competition over luxury flats, cars and lavish lifestyles is creating unnecessary pressure, which contradicts the characteristics of an ideal woman.

Presided over by CCC Education Officer Najma Binte Amin, the session featured notable speakers including Rehena Chowdhury, Senior Vice President of the Chattogram Creative Publishers Council, Advocate Reba Barua, and translator Farzana Rahman Shimu. The program included vibrant cultural performances by Radio and TV artists S.B. Sumi and Uttam Das, alongside students from various CCC-run schools and colleges. The event was moderated by popular presenter Nahida Naju.
