Bandarban Government Women’s College celebrated the Bengali New Year 1433 with a colourful celebration.
On this day, various ethnic minorities and Bengalee students participated in the programme wearing traditional costumes.
The programme began at 9:30 am on the first day of Boishakh with a Boishakhi procession joined by college students and teachers. A dazzling cultural programme performed by the students of the college followed.
Marma, Tripura, Murong, Chakma, Mro, Bawm, Tanchangya and Bengalee students performed traditional dances at the programme.
College Principal Professor Dr. Mohammad Reazul Haque was present as the chief guest in the programme. Extending New Year’s greetings to the students he urged them to avoid the mistakes of the old year and move forward.
Second year college students Annie Tripura and Jayatarung Tripura moderated while Teachers’ Council Secretary Istiak Hossain Sabuj, Bengali Department Lecturer Rahima Begum and Zoology Department Lecturer Pritam Das supervised the whole programme.
