Buddhist religious, social and cultural organisation Bouddha Chhayangan celebrated an era of successful journey in religion, education, culture and human welfare. Colourful events including day-long Atthaparikkhar, evening Sanghadan, recitation of sutras by monks, devotions and stories by children and teenagers, distribution of prizes for the ‘Buddhist Life Story in Words and Presentation’ competition, `Bouddha Chayangan Gunaratna Parents’ Award’, `Buddhist Youth Glory Award-2026’ and unveiling of the commemorative book ‘Bodhichaya’ were organised at the July Revolution Memorial Hall of the Chattogram Press Club on July 17, Friday on the occasion. The first part of the programme was presided over by the President of Bangladesh Bouddha Bhikkhu Mahasabha Sri Saddharmashasankirti Saddharmaratna Gyanananda Mahathero. The chief guest was the Secretary General of Bangladesh Bouddha Bhikkhu Mahasabha Pragyabaridhi Professor Sumedhananda Mahathero. The Organising Secretary of Bangladesh Bouddha Bhikkhu Mahasabha Bhadanta Sanghananda Mahathero delivered the sermon as the chief preacher. The special guests were Bhadanta Mettananda Thero, Bhadanta Jayashree Bhikkhu and Bhadanta Karunananda Bhikkhu. The second part was inaugurated by Chairman of Upendra-Bijoy Foundation Pradeep Kumar Barua. The chief guest was the chief patron of Bouddha Chhayangan and Senior Vice Chairman of Bangladesh Buddhist Association Lion Adarsha Kumar Barua, PMJF. In his speech, he urged the youth to be more actively involved in social welfare by being inspired by religious values. Chief Adviser of the organisation and President of Bangladesh Buddhist Association-Youth Swapan Kumar Barua was present as the chief guest. Adviser of Bouddha Chhayangan and Vice Chairman of Bangladesh Bouddha Juba Parishad National Committee Rotarian Sajeeb Barua Diamond, MPHF and Bouddha Chhayangan Adviser and General Secretary of Bangladesh Bouddha Kristi Prachar Sangha-Youth Central Committee and Assistant Secretary General of World Fellowship of Buddhist Youth (Thailand) Rotarian Dr. Amaresh Barua Chowdhury, MPHF addressed the occasion as felicitated guests. Trustee of Buddhist Religious Welfare Trust and Adviser of Bouddha Chhayangan Lion Professor Boby Barua, Trustee of Buddhist Religious Welfare Trust and youth leader Rubel Barua Hridoy and Manager of American President Lines (Bangladesh) Pvt. Ltd. and Founding President of Kalpana Smriti Foundation Sanchayan Barua were present as special guests. In addition, the founder and former president of Bouddha Chhayangan Chayan Barua and Rajib Barua were present as guests of honour in the event. Presided over by the president of the organisation Anupam Barua the general secretary Shuvo Barua delivered the welcome address. The chairman of the Bouddha Chhayangan Merit Scholarship Council Mishu Barua and the secretary general Prajesh Barua delivered thanking addresses. The cover of the commemorative book ‘Bodhichaya’ published on the occasion of the 12th anniversary of Bouddha Chhayangan was unveiled at the event. In addition, scholarships, certificates and commemorative mementos were presented to the winners of various competitions to encourage children and adolescents in religious and moral education. At the same time, 11 distinguished individuals were awarded the ‘Buddhist Youth Glory Award’ in recognition of their outstanding contributions in various fields of society and the parents of 51 members of the organisation were awarded the `Bouddha Chayangan Gunaratna Parents’ Award ‘. In the Sutra Recitation Competition of the sramanas Karunajyoti Sramana won the first place, Anantajyoti Sramana second place and Pragyajyoti Sramana third place. In the Vandana and Gatha Competition Chinmayi Barua won the first place, Prince Barua (Rup) second place and Triyan Barua third place. Shuchana Barua won the first place, Nilantika Barua second place and Sumedha Barua third place in the ‘D’ category of the ‘Buddhist Life Story in Words and Presentation’ competition. Sushmita Barua won the first place, Annesha Barua second place and Pushpita Barua third place in the ‘E’ category. Deepanwita Barua won the first place, Aindrila Barua Othoi second place and Aindrila Barua third place in the ‘F’ category. 
Advocate Sudatta Barua, Professor Papiya Barua, musical artist Jusi Barua, dancing artist Priyanka Barua, Dr. Riya Barua, Dr. Promise Barua, youth organiser Priyal Barua, youth organiser Shuvo Barua, Advocate Priyanka Barua, Bangladesh Army’s Priyanti Barua and TV anchor Mrittika Barua received `Buddhist Youth Glory Award-2026’ for the first time this year. The speakers said that Bouddha Chhayangan has emerged as a trusted and well-known organisation in the Buddhist community through the practice of Dharma, moral education, social service, cultural development and human welfare activities since its inception in 2014. They hoped that it will make an important contribution to social welfare by further expanding the scope of service activities imbued with religious values and humanitarian ideals also in the future.
