Essential food items have been distributed among the helpless and distressed families affected by the recent flood and torrent from the upstream in Chambal Union under Banshkhali Upazila of Chattogram.
These relief items were distributed under the directive of Chattogram City Corporation Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain and by the personal initiative of his Personal Assistant Maruful Haque Chowdhury Maruf and Mojaher Morjan Smriti Jubo Kalyan Sangstha.
The list of these items included rice, pulse, oil and various daily commodities.
Maruful Haque Chowdhury Maruf said, “Many people of Chambal Union have been in extreme distress due to flash floods and torrent from the upstream. It is our moral and social responsibility to stand by these affected people who are living in extreme hardship. Chattogram City Corporation Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain has clear instructions that wherever people are in distress, we should extend our hands of cooperation as much as possible. In this difficult situation of the flood, we are with every affected family and our assistance activities will continue in the future as well.”
Local dignitaries, social workers and activists of the anti-discrimination movement were present on the occasion.
Local affected residents expressed their thanks and gratitude for giving them food assistance during their hardship.
